THOSE WE USED TO KNOW WELL.

Post by Neville Briggs » Sat Oct 13, 2012 8:48 am

Since we have a mention of former pollies , I dug out this old corny one of mine to run again.

POLLING DAY

Farewell to old Howard forever,
farewell to Costello as well.
Farewell to Belinda from Woy Woy
and Kevin who graciously fell.
Singin' toorali oorali attergy,
singin' toorali oorali ay.
And among all those privileged passengers,
there's others that should creep away.

Bob Brown is a shade of viridian
and Julia's left winger red.
Our Tony's a mate of the Cardinal,
at least I thought that's what he said.
Singin' toorali oorali attergy,
singin' toorali oorali ay.
So after enticing the populace,
they're sure to get in on the day.

Now all of you Misters and Missuses,
take warning from what I've to say.
No matter how stringent the budgeting;
MPs won't go short on their pay.
Singin', toorali oorali attergy,
singin' toorali oorali ay.
The value of your LOCAL candidate
is what to decide; polling day.

Certainly the way to go.

First time this year at our council elections we were also able to vote for the Mayoral position.

Better than it being an automatic party vote where we the voters have no say.

Good one Neville,
Hit the nail on the head with the line 'MPs won't go short on their pay'
or for that matter: their super, trips, perks, perks and perks........

Well done Neville. I sang along (in my mind) all the way.
Cheers

Great satire Nev and completly out of character for you ? ;)

You should wack that one into the abc or your local radio I'm sure it would get some air time as it is pretty topical. The ABC up Martys was North Queensland would use it I'm sure.

Thanks for the replies, Jim, Heather, Ron, Robyn and Bob, I read them all and took notice of the opinions. :) :)

I dunno Bob, I'm not much of a marketer. You can try it out on the Victorians at the park if you like. ;) :)
