ALL A'FLUTTER

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:24 am

All a’flutter

He ran ‘neath the bridge with his catching net poised,
and ready to swoop with great ease.
He dodged heavy traffic that slowly progressed
down the avenue of stately trees .
They were on-route home all gridlocked and waiting,
no doubt a beer most were anticipating,
the white heat rose up with no sign of abating.
They all watched the butterfly nut.

The road had a gradient - slightly up hill
he was puffing and red in the face.
The back of his shirt was dark, soaking with sweat
but he would not abandon the chase.
The Ulysses fluttered and floated on by,
you had to give this bloke an A plus for try,
the puzzle was most of them didn’t know why.
He was covered in dust, dirt and smut.

He’d spotted Ulysses in low lying mist,
he'd spent all the hot day it tracking.
The unusual markings on the butterfly
made it a species worthy of catching.
Putty in his hands would be the BOIC, *
and a butterfly named for him he could see.
Vic swooped and he netted it on a grass tree.
Car horns tooted his victory strut
.
