Monsters

Stephen Whiteside 19.12.2012

Have you caught at the end of the day
Just a glimpse of the wing of a ray
That is busy at play?

Have you spied at the onset of night
The fin of a shark in moon's light?
Did it give you a fright?

Did you swim in the shallows and feel
The touch of a slithering eel?
Did it cause you to reel?

Did you see at the edge of the lake,
In the reedbeds, the tail of a snake?
Did you quiver and quake?

Did you take in a crocodile's eye
Silhouetted against a blue sky?
Were you tempted to cry?

Did a ladybug land on your arm?
Was it bursting with colour and charm?
Did you cause it great harm?

This is not really a BAD poem, it's just a bit flat. I know. I was feeling flat when I wrote it, and it always shows through.

Been there done that Stephen, I can remember once paddling out on a beautiful day for a surf and the waves were curling and clear. i was the first to hit the water but as I paddled out I saw the profile of a shark in the waves about 20 meters in front of me. Damm I can paddle fast when i want to went back past my mates at a rate of knots and just had to sit there and drink burgandy and cola as we watched the waves.

I would not have wanted to swim in that surf anyway cause it scared the you know whats out of me.

I didn't think it was flat. Reflective maybe. ;)
I think we would do well to put up our bad stuff as well as anything that we think is good , doing something is what counts I reckon ( I tell myself unconvincingly  )

Thanks, Neville. Yeah, I think that's a fair point.
