Swimmers

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Sun Mar 03, 2013 3:24 pm

I am swimming, I am swimming and so are a thousand others
heading onwards ever onwards to our goal.
It would be somewhat easier, no doubt a trifle breezier
were it only me and not a bloody shoal.

The winner takes the prize then nine months later.. .big surprise!
Is it a boy or girl. Can't wait to see.
Will there be recognition of the final composition?
Who will it look like in the family?

Well I don't have the answer, so it's no good asking me,
I'm just swimming, swimming, swimming in the ocean.
I have just one goal in sight, and tonight old mate's the night.
Other than that I haven't got a notion.

footnote - just to ensure that if falls within the auspices of Australian Bush Poetry this event took place on a beach at Cronulla back in the 60's
