Birds Fly

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:14 am

Birds Fly

Fish swim.
Kids cry.
Dogs bark.
Birds fly.

Women cry.
Poets pun.
Cows moo.
Birds run.

Pigs squeal.
Fish fly.
Birds swim.
Men cry.

  .

There's another challenge if you want to try it Stephen. Do a poem where all the words
are one syllable ( like you've done ) but with three or four metric feet in each line. ;) :)

OK, yours is mostly one syllable. The challenge is all words of one syllable. It's hard. to do.

:o Hi Stephen
I liked Birds Cry - kind of quirky!
Neville I also liked your little challenge about writing with only one syllable words, so had a go for fun!

Time

Now some have too much time
To spend on words and rhyme.
They work and count each beat
That will march to their feet.
For sure they have no life
Or a kind and wise wife
Who lets them do this right
All day and half the night!

Cheers

Dot

reminds me of the chorus of the Mary Gauthier song Bill Chambers does so well, I Drink -

fish swim
birds fly
Daddys yell
Mummas cry
Old men
sit and think
...... I drink

Thanks, Marty. That's where it came from! I had that in the back of my mind when I wrote this, but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.

Thanks, Dot.
