Re: Beaten Leadbeater's?
While I am as sympathetic as anyone about the survival of species......well perhaps not as passionate as 'anyone', I still must wonder why now is the perfect time in our (as in the planet) evolution. the old earth has been changing for millions and millions of years, species have come and gone, climates have changed, hot, cold, hot, cold and so forth, why are we so wrapped up in suddenly trying to keep the planet just the way it is now?

Re: Beaten Leadbeater's?
I think the environment has not figured as prominently in this campaign due to the fact that the Greens helped form an incredibly disliked minority Government. That . . . along with the retirement of Bob Brown, who had a lot of respect, has left a vacuum of support I think.
Ironically though, tomorrow as well as being election day is also Endangered Species Day. I think the ALP in Queensland may well be critically endangered by tomorrow evening.
I enjoyed your poem, Stephen.

Thanks, Marty.
Yes, fair points. The Greens without Bob Brown are a bit like the Democrats without Don Chipp. You get the feeling they are entering a slow but inevitable decline. It will be interesting to see what comes up to replace them. I imagine something will eventually - or perhaps they will find a way to rejuvenate themselves.

Stephen here in Qld we are blessed with plenty who are willing to take up the slack . . . just returned from town and the polling booth and our Senate ticket is about 6 times as long as the little cardboard polling booth and crammed full of viable options such as the Sex Party, the Pirate Party, the Smokers Rights Party, the STOP the Greens Party (Marty Boyce being politically active
), the Fishing and Lifestyle Party, the Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party and the Animal Justice Party.
Something there for everyone . . . . . .
