Re: I Sometimes Think Of Henry
It is great to read a poem that shifts the spotlight onto Henry Lawson.
An excellent subject Mal, and a difficult one to write about surely.... presented in an even-handed way. Congratulations
It adheres to Henry himself.. "thinking of him".... reflecting kindly. Quite sufficient.
One senses the love the writer has for his subject!
To me Lawson is by far the greatest true Australian that has ever lived. ... but that is incidental to this poem, which is very well written indeed.
"I sometimes think of Henry. Is he watching from above."
I certainly hope not.
.... but if he is, and his heavenly credit is good, maybe he can arrange to come back and write more beautiful poems for everyone.... his presence is sorely missed.
