Sky Fever
I must go up to the sky again, to the sky and the lonely sea,
And all I ask is an ultra-light to carry me effortlessly,
Where the clouds race, and the birds chase, and the land’s set out below me,
And the thermals circle around and around to buffet and bash and blow me.
I must go up to the sky again, for the sky is a great blue dome,
And feeling the breeze through my hairy knees, it feels like my second home.
The air’s thin, and the engine’s din shatters the fragile peace,
But strapped in tight in my ultra-light is how I find release.
I must go up to the sky again. There’s really nothing else for it.
I love the place. I worship the place. I ache for its space. I adore it.
I might be a mug on a jumbo jet, or a sky diver falling from high,
So long as I race through that heavenly place…oh, I must go up to the sky!
