Killer Whales and Nursing Homes

Killer whales are very smart, as everybody knows.
When they're hunting for their prey, it well and truly shows.
They stick together as a group. They teach their young to kill.
They share their food, ensuring every whale gets its fill.

Yet still, there are great limits on the care they can provide.
They want to keep their elders swimming safely by their side,
But if they can't maintain the pace through want of strength of fin,
They fall behind. There is no nursing home to put them in.

They fall behind. They try to hunt alone. They find it tough.
They throw out all their strength of will. Alas, it's not enough.
Their blubber thins. They fade away. Their spine and ribs protrude.
Nature never gives such creatures any latitude.

At least when we are faltering, our superannuation
- Or the pension - shields us from the Great Degeneration,
And when at last our flesh begins to crumble into loam,
Unlike the killer whales, we're placed inside a nursing home.

But then the nursing home takes all our pension and our super
Leaving us to fade away on biscuits and pea soup...urgh!

Let me pass with dignity!!!

Still better than starving or freezing to death under a tree, maybe?
