STRUGGLE STREET REVISITED
Terra cotta covered houses, rows of butter-box designs
where the great unwashed go home to get some sleep.
Toffee coated crimson apples, the foremost upon the minds
of the ticky tacky children in the street.
Brick-a-brac encrusted ornaments, pretty sitting they adorn
window sills, reflecting morning dawning in.
Disassembled motor parts lay scattered, strewn across the lawn
heralding a resurrection to begin.
Pity those who struggle meagre on a pittance of a life
Judge not though, for you may just be judged yourself.
Look a little closer, for their struggle streeted strife
Is what you may find is left upon a shelf.
Terra cotta covered houses, rows of butter box designs
line the front lines of the first line of defence.
From obscene and foul excesses, stood behind their gated signs
slinging mud across a wood space paling fence.
Those who opt for purest opulence, and set aside the need
for brotherhood and love of fellow man
set compass point for fortune, and for riches, and for greed
reaching up, not reaching down to lend a hand.
Terra cotta covered houses, rows butter box designs
where great unwashed go home to get some sleep
Line the corridors of dignity with all that so define
the stuff that makes society complete.

Re: STRUGGLE STREET REVISITED
I've had dealings with the mob at Riverwood ( aka Hearne Bay ) and Peakhurst in Sydney and the aborigines at Bourke. Same scene.
