The Highway To Nowhere
He’s heading to the city just to try and check things out,
they say there’s lots of action if you care to look about.
The bright lights seem to beckon; there’s excitement in the air.
so quickly downs the first few drinks as soon as he gets there,
He’d started drinking booze way back when he was just a brat,
he smokes a little pot now, but there’s nothing wrong with that.
There’s girls milling round, screaming at some blokes who want to fight,
while others look half sloshed; he could get lucky here tonight.
It’s time to test that pill; bought from a sheila he just met
he’s on the highway to nowhere, but he hasn’t got there yet.

Re: The Highway To Nowhere
Frightening thought isn't it that these country kids are also getting hooked on drugs just to be considered part of the trendy scene. They do claim that kids as young as 8 are becoming addicted to Ice in some country areas with the town of Moree supposedly facing an epidemic where Ice can be purchased for as little as $15 a hit - Wagga has similar issues as well they claim so I guess the divide has narrowed considerably.

Hi Maureen
They say that WA has the dubious distinction of being the ICE capital of Australia.
You sort of wonder if the western world have a sort of death wish - it seems we can't handle total freedom.
There are many people who will argue that Cannabis is harmless, I suspect that even among our little mainly conservative group here there would be some who also think this.

There are no harmless brain altering substances. They all prove harmful in some way over time, just some get to that point faster than others. Another good write Terry.

Hi Wazza
I've never been a user myself so I suppose I can only go on what the medical profession reckon.
Where the average person seems to stand on say POT, depends on if you use it or not it seems to me.
People who use it, and many do, will swear it's no worse that alcohol and wont be told otherwise. I've never felt the need to venture past a few drinks myself - sometimes a few too many especially in my earlier days.
Thanks mate

I used to puff the weed in my early years Matt, then made one of my few sensible life choices and gave it away while still a relative youngster.
I seem to have been also afflicted with your other addiction as well, probably made worse of late by having too much time to sit in front of the computer.
Trout season opens on 1st September so will go down to catch up with a few old mates and see the new season in - might even get to cast a fly or two while I'm there.
Cheers Terry
