NOW THAT I HAVE WINGS

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Wed Mar 18, 2015 10:54 pm

… Now that I have wings …
Maureen Clifford © The Scribbly Bark Poet

Hung out to dry – white, pristine, clean
with every feather smooth and sleek
and now that I have wings I know
that I can travel far to seek
what lies there up above the clouds,
what hides ‘neath cerulean blue.
What mysteries are there in store
up there my loved one ? Share, please do.

The sandy shore is washed and groomed
constantly by the ebb and flow
of ocean tides as if there is
a mermaid housekeeper. I know
that thought is purely fanciful
but my mind wanders winding paths
since you have left and I’m alone
there’s little now to make me laugh.

My wings are nearly dry my love
and soon I think that I will fly
with sensors locked onto the beat
of your heart as I soar the sky.
This world is beautiful I know
and yet to it I don’t aspire
for now that I have wings to use
I’m reaching so much higher.

My old Dad has been gone a few years now, he was 96 when he passed away in November and he always said that if you found a feather it was a message from someone up above who was looking out for you - since my furbaby Mahalia died I have been finding a lot of feathers. I think her Grandpa is looking after her - he loved her as well.

I can see the pain still lingers Maureen,
and probably will for awhile to come.

Sad but nice words.

Beautiful words Maureen. The sadness never really leaves, and in a way that's a good thing. It just hides for a while only to pop out when we least expect it, reminding us of how much we loved.

Thank you Wazza and Terry for reading and commenting :D It's a bit light on with camp fires and kangaroos though

That's lovely Maureen. Bitter sweet is grief at times. Forge on brave lady. xx
