My Doona Keeps on Slipping
My Doona Keeps on Slipping
My doona keeps on slipping.
It is not much good at gripping.
Come morning, it is lying in a heap.
My whole left side is freezing
Which is very far from pleasing,
And scarcely seems compatible with sleep.
I have tried a bunch of measures
To restore nocturnal pleasures,
But the ending always seems to be the same.
My doona keeps on sliding
In its constant ‘side to side’-ing,
And it seems to treat the whole thing as a game.
I’ve addressed with stern inflections
My bad doona – said directions
Must be followed to the letter, maybe more.
I can shout with whitened knuckles,
But my doona only chuckles
When I say I do not want it on the floor.
When your doona is rebelling,
There is not a way of telling
When next you’ll get another chance to dream.
I will not resort to boozing,
But you’ll know that I am losing
If sometime after dark you hear a scream!

Re: My Doona Keeps on Slipping
Oh Stephen, I really needed a good laugh today! Thank you!!
I have the solution ...
I chastised my errant doona -
told it firmly I would sooner
live in Queensland where it's hot beyond belief!
Then my doona could be hidden
till it did as it was bidden
while I slept with just a sheet - in sweet relief!!!
Cheers
Shelley

Great poem, Stephen, but a doona is the most useless invention since the helicopter ejection seat. Too hot, too cold, or on the floor. Sheets and blankets forever!

If you're the president, David, I must be the secretary!

Re: My Doona Keeps on Slipping
David and Shelley, I have sheets and blankets, too, but the doona seems to keep bullying them! Having said all of that…no…I still love my doona.
