Very sad, Maureen, because it's so often true. A lack of respect and appreciation coupled with indifference and being patronised is cruel. Personally, I've always had a deep respect and love for older people and feel there is a lot we can learn from them, as Neville so rightly points out... Mind you, at 60 now, I suppose I'm classed as elderly too - like Shelley, I am horrified when I hear this sort of statement on the News - especially as I'm definitely nowhere near that 'age of wisdom' in my head yet!
