Friendship

Post by Bob Pacey » Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:05 am

I was asked by Patricia a free style poet whom I mentioned in an earlier post to produce a poem about our meeting.

For what it's worth !!!

Friendship

Michael sat upon his patio
Without a worry or a care.
Ken had joined him for a beer
Patricia Rayner too was there.

Twas late one Friday evening
And the day was winding down.
This was a time of friendship
Spent without harsh words or frown.

They called out to Bob Pacey
As he appeared quite near.
“Come and put your feet up mate
And share with us a beer “

They talked of life and loves long lost
It all seemed so long ago.
They marvelled at the shadows cast
By the sunsets orange glow.

The gum trees silhouette defined
A view you could not buy.
The miracle of nature framed
Against the evening sky.

Such times just happen in our life
Good things with friends to share.
Time to forget life’s woes and worries
In this harsh world, they are rare.

We miss so much in a busy world
Torn apart by grief and strife.
We all need to stop and sit a while
Slow down, enjoy our life.

This was but a fleeting moment
A tiny window to their soul
But such interactions make us who we are
They frame and make us whole.

They each will go their separate ways
Just a ripple in life’s pond.
But a piece of each will stay forever
Forged by friendships special bond.

The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

Good point Bob.

There's an American cartoon strip that appears in our local paper. One of the constant "comedy" themes is a teenager who cannot communicate with anyone unless it is by texting or mobile phone, even if they are standing right next to him.

G/day Bob,
Love, friendships, at the end of the day not much else really matters does it.
