it is beautiful Glenny and I totally agree with Neil that it would be divine set to music. Can't believe that this hasn't been a winner, Maybe you should let it fly from Theodore and see where it goes.

These lines had me wondering if she was perhaps into B and D :o     ;) and did I notice brackets? Not sure why they were there
lay aside the whips for my ruby lips
(I’ll give you a blossom fair),
one ride, my love, for a lifetime’s thought,
before you leave St.Claire?
Cheers

Beautifully written, Glenny. As Stephen says, it's a timeless story, although the style you've used does definitely give it that 'olde worlde' feel. My original question related to our traditional male poets writing about women, so it doesn't fit in that sense, but everyone will appreciate seeing it reproduced here.

Cheers

Thank you David. I don't ever take your commendations lightly...they remain as little gems in my self esteem file. I think I'll just file my ill advised hi-jacking of your thread under ''weird things I've done during certain phases of the moon''...xx

Mausey!! ( brackets were to indicate a cajoling whisper.) And wot's 'B & D'...?? I've lead a sheltered life, so do be kind. xx

Neilly-Pooh....you little sweetheart..
I am honoured, trooo, but queue up love. My 'bride' will only ever be put to music by....a violinist. Mandatory. So, how's ya Stradavarius? I was thinking 'Enya' for the vocals. (talk about delusions of grandeur.... )

Marty and Maureen, being one of the unwashed and uneducated masses I get lost amongst all the abbreviated and buzz words. I would vote to leave the texting type of abbreviated word to the teenagers with the mobile phones.

Isn’t it great to see Keats’s soft and gentle side?

B and D and S and M were buzz words long before roller doors and mobile phones Dave - I learnt about them in the 60's along with key parties and swinging    learnt mind you not tried  ;) Nothing beats unbridled passion Marty - shame it doesn't last
