Thanks Stephen,

In some areas that is certainly true, but there were lots of Aboriginals scattered throughout a large portion of the west.

for much of the year the big groups broke up into smaller groups often more or lessless family groups, and joined up again at a particular time of the year.

There are many recorded instances of encounters (some of them quite hostile) in the gold rush days out in very remote areas.

I can take you to places where you can still see the rocks etc near their Gnamma holes. They used to use these to cover up those holes wherever possible to stop excess evaporation.

Cheers and thanks for the query.

Yes Terry I to enjoyed the read, as usual you take me back to the country that is so familiar to you and I. The good doctor is correct in saying that most of the Aborigines lived around the coast, he is also right in saying that no-one writes poems about that.....probably because the people who live in those areas don't want to bring attention to that for fear of more land claims...

Don't be fooled though into thinking they didn't live in the remote areas, I have seen paintings etc. in areas of the central deserts that are as far away from the coast as probably anywhere in the world!

G/day Ross

I agree there were lots of Aboriginals around the coastal fringes,
but as you say they were out in the remote areas as well.

Glad you enjoyed the read mate.

Hi Wazza

It's always pleasing to hear someone enjoys something you've written,
encourages you to keep trying.

Cheers Terry

Thanks Heather,
There was awhile there when I lost pretty near all interest,
pleased to say I'm enjoying it again.

Off tomorrow.

Probably just as well if they are as big as Bob's fish - WA's a big place (or so I'm told). :)
