you are bang on there Heather, as most of you are aware, I have spent the last twenty five years or so in that very country, committees and reports are the problem, or a very big part of it. I won't bang on about it, but while there are committees and reports, generally conducted by people with uniformed agendas, there will be no proper solution.
I would also like to endorse the comments of our wise man of words, Matt.

Personally I don't see why we cant accept it as a beautiful and unique place that is there for all visitors and Australians to enjoy - but show respect to the fact that to our Aboriginal people it is considered a sacred place and thus show the same respect to it as we do to the stones of Stonehenge, the temples of Bali and the Taj Mahal in India the cathedrals of England and Scotland to just name a few. They all have historic significance, they are all unique and they are all special and revered by a % of the population. We do not/would not consider clambering over them or covering them with graffitti but we are able to visit, marvel at them, photograph them and learn about their history.

Getting back on topic I enjoyed both of your poems Allan and Matt
