[quote="Neville Briggs"]The ABC ( I think ) took a group of prominent artists out to lake Eyre and comissioned each of them to do a painting for an interpretation of the place.

This is the piece I was refering to Nev ! how can something so artificial be an interpretation of the place ?

The reason why I thought of that picture, Bob, is because Maureen related Lake Eyre to what some call the "time of the dreaming ".

Tim Storrier paints in a similar style to what is called surrealism. Surrealism involves presenting the symbolism of dreams. What would be the symbolism of a burning fire in dreams. Maybe passion.

Tim Storrier has made many trips to Lake Eyre and the desert country, I think that he has a very passionate interest in the landscape of the far outback. I take it he is trying to relate not just a view of Lake Eyre but a symbol of the passion he feels for the land and the hot dry desert. Similar to Dorothea Mckellar who said she loved a sun burnt country, far horizens, the wide brown land etc. Tim Storrier is relating the same passion but in vision instead of words.

Can't you see that ?? I can. ;) :)

So I throw out the challenge Bob, for you to write a poem called Stormy Morning, which tells how you respond to the sight of Wreck Bay in the windy morning. I mean it. ;) :)

I thought I had already done that Nev but why would I want to create an unatural effect then write a poem about it when there is such natural beauty there in the first place ?

Bit like the elephant statue picture that was posted a little while back ?
