Annie
A Special Little Dog

Slowly sleep will leave me
the breaking of the dawn
silence all around me
feelings most forlorn.

This year has passed so slowly
without you I'd be lost
if I should ever loose you too
no one could count the cost.

Your eyes are so much dimmer now
you cough and wheeze and cower.
I lie and listen to you stir
at some ungodly hour.

A coat that's not so shinny now
grey hairs and twisted feet.
Fourteen years we've been together
and everyone has been a treat.

I feed you tablets every day
and special food from down the vet.
Sometimes I think you've left me
but then you stir and up you get.

Your days are spent a dozing
gently, breezes through your hair
but you've earned you bit of sunshine
with all the joy you share.

I know some day we'll have to part
and I'll have to start anew
but when your time is over
a part of me will go with you.

Passed away 30/06/08

Special Bob - just like Annie :( :(

Think you need a comma after gently in this verse.

Your days are spent a dozing
gently, breezes through your hair

Cheers

Thank Maureen. I almost lost her a few times over the years but she hung in there supported by numerous pills.

Almost bilnd in both eye's and a heart murmer as well as diet problems. Lost her to a stroke in the end.

Saw me through some hard times that little dog.

Did not matter how long you were gone a day a week or what always got the same welcome !!!

Cheers Bob

Know where you are coming from Bob completely - nothing beats the love of a good dog because it is given completely selflessly. Humans are not IMO capable of that - even the best of them. Humans have agendas.

Lucky you Ross - 6 dogs would be my idea of paradise - was there once, but the little one on your lap possible needs you as much as you need him/her. Dogs get needy on occasions too and just need that little bit of reassurance, and they also pick up on when their human pack leaders need an extra 'cuddle' as well. Enjoy it

We get attached to dogs don't we Bob, I still miss my old mutt.
it's just not the same with those evil familiars called " cats "

Funny thing Nev I used to have cats for years. All were named Charlie and all but the last one were pure white. The last was a ginger and when we moved in Moura which is a small town he kept going back to the old house and would sometimes visit us at odd times then go again.

Finally stopped coming and the lady who moved into the house kept him.

Have since seen the destruction they can cause to wildlife. So think it will be dogs form now on.
