WELCOME TO THE WORLD

I think I have mentioned somewhere that we have recently had the first boy born into our family in 45 years. My son was the only other boy.

I did this video up for for our new little bloke Harley and confess to being very proud of how it turned out - Harley helped as you will see - he is a star in the making. Do hope you like it

of course we think he is beautiful.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD

How long we have waited to see your little face,
to count your toes and fingers, to feel your sweet embrace.
To watch you whilst you’re sleeping – to hurry to your cry,
to say you have your father’s nose, your mother’s lovely eyes.

With great anticipation we’ve counted off the days
wondering whom you’d look like, no doubt we’ll be amazed.
We’ve had such fun in choosing names – one will be right for you.
Could there perhaps be twins in there, not just one child but two.

When you arrive dear baby mine – our joy will know no bounds,
there’ll be fairy tales to read at night and cuddles all around.
When you’re bigger we will buy a dog – you’ll always have a mate,
and the funny little things you do, with great joy we’ll relate.

But whoever you turn out to be, of one thing please be sure.
Your Dad and I will love you. You’re a child we will adore.
As you’ve grown here safe inside me we will always have a bond.
So welcome baby to the world….welcome our little one.

Yeah have to speed read there in a couple of spots Maureen. He looks a sweetie.

My son and his boys are the only surviving males in our family tree.

Comes from having so many sisters but we all know it takes just a little extra effort to make a male child.

Thanks you Heather and Bob. It is funny how the ratio works. In my own family my Brother is the last of the line he is 4 years younger than me so nothing will change there. The family name will die out with him - although I believe there is a strong line of cousins far removed (no pun intended) in America. My Father was the only one in his family to have kids. And then Dave was born with a different surname of course and it's been a long time between drinks - all of his female cousins on our side of the family have had girls until young Harley came along. I tell my nephew in law - Harleys Dad that he must have diamond tipped sperm  that makes him blush but he comes from a family where they all have boys. Go figure.

Beautiful Maureen, there's nothing like a new baby in the family, brings a new purpose to life, loved the poem.

Very nice Maureen. It certainly is a special time.

I have 2 brothers and there are 4 boys in the next generation already (doubt there will be anymore) so the name continues strongly in our line but the females in the other cousin lines have ended the name there. I have 2 great nephews as well now.

The way things are these days you get hypenated surnames, the wife keeps her name and lots of combinations. Heaven help people in 200 years trying to trace the family tree. :?:

Making boy babies is easy ya just gotta do it with ya boots on ;). So fellers get with the program these sheilas are trying to take over the world. My mother had 4 boys and 5 girls which means I have 5 sisters and only 3 brothers while the girls only have 4 sisters and 4 whole brothers! How unfair is that.

Having the very popular family name of Smith I don’t think our name will be lost any time soon.
