A lighthearted look at the Carbon Tax
Carbon Overload
The Carbon Tax is comin’, next July it’s gonna start
an’ woe betide any cow that has the nerve to fart.
It’ll be drawn an’ quartered, taxed highly for its sin
while Julia will be there cryin’ “believers come on in”.
That’s if she still rules the roost, it might be the mad monk,
if he gets in all cows will party with a huge slam dunk.
The Abbott’s dead agin’ the tax, tell me somethin’ new,
“It’s a load of crap” he says, but what’s he got in lieu?
Brownie an’ the Greens’ll hardly give him time a day,
an’ next three years at least that mob’ll have a lot ta say.
Interestin’ times ahead, not only for the cows,
many folk are wonderin’ jest what cause to espouse.
One thing we can count on is that all our costs’ll rise,
Julia’s sayin’ while that’s true, tax cuts’ll compromise.
But, last year she said “No, there’ll not be any carbon tax”,
seems that what she says jest aint the same as how she acts.
Makes ya wonder, is the situation goin’ nuts,
there’s gonna be a carbon tax, counterbalanced by tax cuts.
The Climate Change Minister knows how ta cut some fees,
generate electricity from methane if ya please.
Sounds a simple exercise but, some may get a fright
if there’s a smelly residue from turnin’ on a light.
Brings us back to cows, those we thought ‘d pull up stumps,
they may be our salvation, their farts gold plated trumps.
