How come you decided against putting it into a comp Marty? IMO it has an edge to the story that most folks wouldn't have come from with a nice punch line and I reckon it would certainly hold it's own. Love it

Cheers

Well done Marty. Good one for the performance if not the comp.

Great poem Marty! This one would not be out of place in any anthology of bush poetry that I have ever read. Would certainly hold its own in any comp, but I am like you I don't like comps either.

Good one Marty. I agree with Neville - it would really sound tops as a performance.

Cheers, Jeff

Great poem Marty. I remember watching my dad and grandad shearing, the smell of the wool, the sound of the buzzing clippers and the clippety clop of sharp hooves on the wooden slat floor ... thanks for bringing back those special memories. ;)

Yeah I was gonna say your metre is all over the place and the silly bell count is out as well.

I would say that you should never enter a comp Marty and that means the rest of us mug writers would have a better chance.

;) ;) ;)

Good onya mate.

It's a cracker of a poem, Marty . . . and even if you have a change of heart you can still chuck your hat in the ring with it.

Cheers, Marty
