A LIKELY CANDIDATE
Well he looked a likely candidate as best as I could tell.
Though I'd only met him briefly and didn't know him well.
But he seemed to have a friendly smile and was most keen to chat,
and a gentle personality - you can't ask more than that.
I rather liked the style of him; he had a certain air
of calmness and affability, and gorgeous thick grey hair.
His eyes were brown and kindly and he seemed to like my kids.
He was happy to play with them and most Sundays he did.
My family seemed to like him. First impressions always count.
He was courteous and attentive, of his feelings I'd no doubt.
He indicated he would like to spend a bit more time with me
and was quick to jump at the chance to call round home for tea.
I didn't get my hopes up though he was a likely lad,
for I've travelled down this path before and met the good and bad.
Should I let my heart rule my head? I've made mistakes before
and disappointment always hurts. Can my heart take still more?
Nothing ventured nothing gained. Gut feelings one should trust.
I'll welcome him with open arms into my heart. I must.
For he looks a likely candidate, though I doubt that he is rich
I rather fancy this blokes genes will suit my Blue Heeler bitch.
