Well, here's a piece of nonsense, if ever I wrote any! Just a bit of fun, very frivolous.

G'day Heather

You know you're not alone dear
we all have heard 'that' name.
To beat those champion Campbells
is rater high to aim.

With noses to the grindstone
and shoulders to the wheel
we've burned the midnight oil
then know just how you we feel.

We think we have an opus
to enter in a comp
we'll hope at last to beat them
preparing with some pomp.

But when the list is published
to show who poem is best
again we see the Campbells
have stood the current test.

So on I toil til midnight
( I'll take my own advice)
I don't think I can beat them
but a third place be nice.

Why?

It's good to see you having a go at something again Heather. I wouldn't say that it is a nonsense verse.
In the poetry comp we have categories " serious " and " humorous " I think we need room for " light verse " that's not "serious" but not necessarily fitting neatly as comical or jokey.

Well, if I wasn't confused before, I am now!

Tell me why I should go to the naughty corner Neville?

Did I do something bad?

Just what are you two talking about ???


Thats the beauty of poetry Heather and Zondrae we can always strive to be better and still write what we would call silly stuff !!!

I couldn't delete the post, so I wrote that little message. I meant to indicate that I withdraw the comment about naughty corner. Wrong comment, I was too hasty.

Neville you are SO good at back peddling!

I meant it as a big of fun - the poem that is! (And I was just teasing!) When I got my sixth place at Bundaberg back in June, four of the other five places were taken by the two Campbells so the concept of Keeping Up With The Campbells came to me.
