Where are you, dear ?

Post by Neville Briggs » Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:47 pm

While excavating the ruins of an old long forgotten men's shed, archeologists probing a large midden of empty aluminium cans, came across a paper which they immediately recognised as an original manuscript of a song by little known country singer, Slim Trusty.
The archeologists were very moved to read this touching message.

WHERE ARE YOU, DEAR ?

It's not lonesome away from the wife and the chores,
out back in the shed, hid from she of indoors.
And there's nothing so dreaded, or pain in the rear
but to hear the wife calling out " Where are you, dear ? "

Oh the missus is anxious for work to be done
at the cleaning and painting and all that humdrum.
And she often gets cranky and says with a sneer,
" It's a while since we had a new carpet for here "

And of course there's the shopping and clothes to try on
where you never stop handing out hard earned mammon.
And the frown on your face quickly turns to a tear
when the wife says with passion " There's a sale on, I hear "

Oh pity the poor bloke - for all of his life
the men's shed has never kept him out of strife.
For there's nothing so dreaded or pain in the rear,
but to hear those forboding words..." Where are you , dear ? "

Mate, you should put music to that and sell it to the Country Music mob - would be a real big hit I reckon ... :D

Shouldn't be too hard to work out a tune for it ...
