THEY'RE ON THE INSIDE LOOKING OUT - WE'RE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
To you they may look different, but no, they are the same
some folks seek simple lifestyles and yet others yearn for fame.
I came across some photos that both time and I forgot
and flicking through the pages realized that life had not..
The woman rocking there with a small child held in her arms.
smiles down with love light in her eye, she’s captured by his charm.
That's her shown in that picture, as she rocks in Grandpa’s chair.
Her face so blank and vacant. Just a vague and wistful stare.
Here’s one that we took on the beach many summers ago.
A girl in white bikini full of life, rarin' to go.
A hot babe you are thinking, maybe twenty - twenty five.
She now lies in a hospice bed strugglin’ to stay alive.
That little boy who wears the cape and mask of superman
is over forty now and he tells me that he still can
recall that photo Grandpa took - though Grandpa is long gone.
It was a Kindy play and Grandpa recorded his song.
So really not so different - though you might think that strange.
Perhaps a little altered for nature does rearrange
the outward structures over time to suit her master plan,
but nothing really changes. I am still the same - I am.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Hi Maureen,
thinking ot that last line, I've always had a theory that people never really change, we may mellow a little and hopefully get a little wiser, but basically we remain the same.
We are what we are.

Hey Maureen,
Many poets moan about trying to find a subject that will 'stir the Muse'. But yours just keep on coming. A great subject with a great approach. Goodonyalove.
