Well ladies, you well know, all us blokes prefer long SOCKS.
Wishful Thinkin’
A fella named Johno, an’ I - got talkin’ today
about things in the bush and the way they should be.
I don’t know where he hailed from, before reachin’ the city,
but a long time was spent very far from the sea.
He’d travelled this country, both the North and the South,
then turned his attention to far out in the West
where crows wear sunglasses while flyin’ formation
and not far from Nyngan you can see ‘em the best.
You drift down the highway as if goin’ to Cobar,
there’s nothin’ to see on the left or the right,
in about fifty kilometres you should see Hermidale
thats if your not travellin’ in the dark of the night.
Now it’s known in the area of the Bald Hills nearby
or just a bit North when you reach Jackson’s Flat
that the red soil is rich for croppin’ and growin’
an’ if you want to get healthy, well - this is where it’s at.
Wool, wheat and grasses grow big, tall and strong,
that’s after the rains come to moisten the ground,
then overnight as a single moon passes
crops burst from the earth without making a sound.
Sink your soles in the soil way up to your ankles,
stand very still during one turn of the clock
you’ll be thoroughly nourished as nature intended
and add one full inch to the length of your - - - -.
