We all have to make our own mistakes and learn from them - words from the wise never are when we are young
Love this poem Marty I see the picture so well and relate to the words you have written. IMO an excellent piece. Thank you for sharing it
Cheers
Maureen

Nice one, Marty. The rhyming pattern has gone west in verse 4. You might want to have a look at that.

No worries, Marty. I was thinking you might like to try to find a way to switch 'coals' from the first line to the second to pick up 'goals' in the last line.

Point taken. I didn't mean to sound patronising. It's just that I know how I have felt in situations like that in the past - and my first thought is usually that I can't do it. But then, as you say, you go away and start to pick away at the problem, and eventually the solution falls into place.

Dreams can turn into nightmares but what must it be like to not
have dreams?
Good poem.

Can nightmares turn into dreams also, Dennis? I hope so. Sounds like the idea for a poem...
