State Of Origin One 2012


The skys are growing darker
the rumbles building to a roar.
The tensions started growing
we all know what lies in store.

Queenslands finest heed the call;
The Blues have picked their best.
Our record stands impeccable
But our mettle will they test.

The Blues are desperate for a win.
they want this holy grail;
But if they don’t play with passion
their quest is sure to fail.

There is no way to duplicate it
it’s not something you can buy.
The pride that shows in every eye
as we hold that shield on high.

A passion born in 1980
when Artie Beetson took the field.
A love of this, our birth state
means our team will never yield.

The battle cry of Queenslander
lifts us up when we are down.
It steels our players courage
to win a seventh crown.

I’ve seen it in each players eye
It’s imprinted on each hear
and it cannot be manufactured
if it’s not there from the start.

We have a pride in our great state
That old scars fester and renew.
It only grows north of the border
A hate of all things that are blue.

The blues are primed and ready
They feel their time is drawing near.
But when you gaze into their eyes
You see a look of utter fear.

We hold the shield it's ours to keep
It's a sound they hate to hear.
Melbourne town will run with blood

When you see them walking in the street
they wear a mournful frown.

The sight is oh so pitiful

that it can infect a person so;
and why is it so selective

For if you check their place of birth
you'll find the strangest thing.
Cause they all come from New South Wales

I don’t know how you folks can get worked up over a bunch of big blokes throwing each other on the ground and then call it foot ball, in foot ball ya gotta kick the ball more than twice in a game.

An when they get to their end and throw THEMSELVES on the ground that’s a TRY after 100 years you would think they could do better than TRY.
