Here's one of the non - prize winning poems from the Rocky Beef Competition    Obviously it wasn't long enough. or maybe it had too much bull or too little ;) Then again maybe it was just crappy  :o   :(

LOTS OF BULL

Have you thought of micro-chipping? I bet you never have.
The benefits of it are really beaut.
We've used it on our dogs and cats for many years you know
and cattle now are wearing it to boot.

One tiny tag put in their ear - just like the steak at Coles
has bar codes that the computer can read.
It tracks the burly bovine from the cradle to the grave
and all its information is perceived.

This bull was born at Texas on a place called Silver Spur.
Its time of birth was April two oh four.
Then sold off as a yearling at the Januarys sales
and moved to paddocks near Coolmunda's shore.

In good times there the grasses grow so lush and tall and green
and Gums stand stark and white against the sky.
As waters are receding it makes no sense now to breed
more stock that drought would surely see just die.

This captured information from the NLIS tag
tells he’s gone interstate to Narrabri.
From paddock to the plate his life’s recorded - no debate.
from birth right to the day that he will die.
