G'day Heather,

Yeah! I said all that when I was 35 too.

.. and again when I was 40.. and with a little less conviction at 45.. and with hesitation at 50.

Now I'm over 60 and wish I had used sunscreen on my face. I wish I had cleansed, exfoliated and moisturised. I wish I had used night cream on my neck (which could now put any turkey to shame). .. and on my upper chest. .. and hand cream on my hands and so on.

I used to colour out the grey hairs til I retired from paid employment. Now it is as natural as can be. My hair is one thing I don't complain about. It is thick, curly, not totally grey and usually well behaved. Others would kill (well that is the saying..) for my hair. But most importent of them all .. I still have my teeth!

I guess I'm about your vintage - I wanna grow old gracefully too:

Okay . . it is the silly season

Ok,

I'll admit there are perks. The first one being - when they are just a little grub rolled up in a blanket and you have a big cuddle while they are sleeping, it feels wonderful. If they wake and start to cry you can hand them back to Mum and go off to bed and sleep.

Grandmas can make pretty things for grand daughters and their dollies.

Thanks everyone. I guess it's a sad reflection on society that women in particular feel the need for bigger bits (yeah I said bits), or adornments that are nothing more than a fashion or fad that could be regretted down the track. There comes a time in life when you should be comfortable with who you are.

Marty, what I wouldn't give to be your vintage again! Oh, don't go the stamp and envelope route, please, please Marty!

Well we can tell from your photo that you don't use Grecian 2000 Terry. Which is just as well or that little boy wouldn't have recognised Santa would he?

....why is everyone so obsessed about hair?.....an old mate of mine who just happened to be an eggshell blonde, always used to say.."we are all created with the same amount of hormones, if you want to waste yours growing hair you go right ahead."...I'm with him!

Good on you Heather. Since everyone has covered the content of physical form , I'll comment on the poem's form.

For a person who was a seemingly timid beginner not long ago ,you have certainly come a long way in your grasp of the structure of poetry form. No-one could fault your rhyme and metre and your imaginative approach to the theme is great. It's very hard to do a subject that's been done many times before and to bring a new angle to it but I think that you have succeeded. Top marks Heather
