ALISON
LUNCH AT 10 O’CLOCK

WELL I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND I QUICKLY MAKE THE BED
THEN I GRAB A NICE HOT CUP OF TEA TO CLEAR MY SLEEPY HEAD.
I MIX UP A BOWL OF BATTER SO THE SCONES ARE ON THE GO
AND I PUT A LOAD OF WASHING ON IT ONLY TAKES A MO.

THE HOUSE HAS ALL BEEN VACUUMED AND FRONT AND BACK STEPS CLEAN
AND I’VE GOT A POT OF FRUIT ON FOR SOME JAM AND WHIPPED SOME CREAM.
I'VE FINISHED OFF THE MOWING AND THE SPRINKLERS GOING STRONG
AND THE WASHINGS OUT AND DRYING SO IT SHOULDN’T TAKE TOO LONG.

I'VE POLISHED ALL THE SILVER AND CLEANED THE BATHROOM OUT
AND I'VE BOTTLED UP THAT BATCH OF JAM AND MOVED THE LOUNGE ABOUT.
THE WASHING IS ALL FOLDED AND THE IRONING IS DONE TOO
ALL THE TOWELS AND SHEETS ARE IN THE CUPBOARD AND I'VE EVEN CLEANED THE LOO.

I DON’T KNOW JUST WHAT ELSE TO DO I CAN’T SIT AND TWIDDLE THUMBS
I KNOW I’LL CLEAN THE EAVES DOWN AND GET A BIT OF SUN.
NOW I’VE FINISHED EVERYTHING I’LL HAVE SOMETHING TO EAT
A LOVELY SALAD SANDWICH AND CUP OF TEA IS HARD TO BEAT.

NOW LUNCH IS DONE I HAVE TO FLY TO FIND SOME MORE TO DO
I JUST CAN’T STAND ROUND IDLE IT’S A CURSE I’M TELLING YOU.
I’VE GOT TO DO THE SHOPPING AND TRY TO FIND THAT OTHER SOX
WHAT’S THE TIME I HAVE TO FLY ?
AH GEES I’VE ALREADY HAD ME LUNCH AND IT’S ONLY

TEN O’CLOCK.

....methinks 'Alison' would be wise to re-evaluate her priorities...& actually give herself a day off!...?..Good one Bob. All of the girls will 'get' this one...we'll just be scratching our heads as to how you actually noticed this...

Alison is the mother of a girl who used to work for me. Alison is always busy doing something.

Her daughter asked me to come up with a poem to give to her as the story is true and she likes to have a laugh at herself.

Went over well

Your poem would go over well at any gathering of busy mothers/housewives Bob! But I'll bet it cracked Alison up more particularly. (It reminds me of one I wrote when I was buried in kids & housework...not to mention a full time job. I'll post it...if I can find it...on another thread.)
