I grew up on a dairy farm at Peachester in south east Queensland and we had a Fordson Major which was probably 1955 vintage as we moved there in 1962 and it had done a lot of hours by then.
It was a good tractor and it also powered our irrigation pump which could be fitted on the front and driven by a pulley on the side. The clutch pressure plate broke a couple of times which meant breaking the tractor in two to fix but overall it was a good tractor.
I must write a poem about my old Inter B250 which I had for years and used mainly as an irrigation shifter and anchor on our dairy farm - good one Marty.

I think you have done well with that one Marty, good strong direct speech ( mostly ;) ) very suitable for the theme.

Affectionate feelings for a tractor is a bit outside my range of experience

As usual, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Tractors have never been my 'go' either.

However, one of my sons is restoring an old family Holden HR 'wagon.
Fond memories for the boys, having travelled many miles in the 'ol' girl'.
