I'm with Neville - I like the structure of this as well as the content, I think the somewhat clipped lines work well with the concept of the contest and the horse clip clopping along. Captures a slower paced time in life - interesting that you have time to observe the eagle possible something that would have gone unnoticed in a car journey, because unlike a car you don't have to concentrate as much on the steering

and thus have more time to observe and appreciate your surroundings
