September Sky
September Sky
Probably quite difficult to convey this. Living in the tropics it's commonly said that we don't have the standard 4 seasons but just the two - Wet and Dry. But every year I see a sky that marks that changing of the seasons and it's only around for a few weeks. It's subtle but unmistakable . . .

The season’s told the sky, it seems;
the rising sun’s an ember.
There’s something new amidst the blue
that tells us it’s September.
It’s deep, but sometimes smokey grey;
can shimmer or rescind.
No vestige for the monsoon or
a hostage to the wind.
It opens up and spreads its wings;
Reflects a turquoise glow.
I love it; my September sky;
it puts on such a show.
Torresian Imperials;
not seen since early March.
They seem to bring the start of Spring,
they dip and dive and arch.
The percolated cirrus mats,
the sunset starts to splinter.
The season turns and quickly burns
the final throws of winter.
A coda to the ether of
the season that’s passed by.
It’s vast, unique, exudes mystique;
that sweet September sky.

No verse about the Football finals? Then what's it got to do with September, Marty???

That's fantastic Marty. Well done.
( I don't think you need the last stanza. Resist the urge to explain, your poem already explains it well enough . Have faith.

Re: September Sky
Actually I loved the last stanza
A coda to the ether of
the season that’s passed by.
It’s vast, unique, exudes mystique;
that sweet September sky.
but would probably change it to
The code of the Season
AFL's near has passed
It’s vast, unique, exudes mystique;
and kicks the Rugby's ar*e (not a proper rhyme, but put it in for Nev

Beautiful imagery Marty!
There is something about the seasons that stirs the soul, isn't there?
And beautiful observations in the most mundane - if you care to look!!
Thanks for sharing.
