Daisy Chain Convict 2
Stephen Whiteside 26.10.2012
I'm a daisy chain convict. I can't get away
From the moon's icy shine and the sun's golden ray;
From the stars, from the planets, the paddocks and streams,
And when I'm asleep, then it fills all my dreams.
I'm a daisy chain convict. Through wind and through rain
I cheerfully saunter again and again.
I don't want a chimney. I don't want a door.
The grass at my feet will suffice for my floor.
I'm a daisy chain convict. I don't want a car.
The strength of my limbs, it will carry me far.
I don't need a wallet, a card or a phone.
I'm happy to battle along on my own.
I'm a daisy chain convict. I'm tied to the wild,
Though the weather be scary and stormy, or mild.
I'll take my own chances. I'll live with the beasts,
And go with the flow, with the famines and feasts.
I'm a daisy chain convict. No heater for me.
No cooling. No gas or electricity.
No doona, no blankets, no pillow at all,
Except for the soft leaves that on the ground fall.
I'm a daisy chain convict. I drink at the creek.
My muscles are supple, my figure is sleek.
I hunt when I'm hungry, and rest when replete.
All that I need is right here at my feet.
I'm a daisy, a daisy chain convict.
