First Place - The Rolf Boldrewood awards 2012.

Mistress of My Seasons - New England Autumn.

When Autumn in its languid rush
paints trees and ferns with idle brush
and gifts the golden hues to sight
with ambers all in cooling light;
ere winters frosty tongue and tail
will lick and whip late summers sail,
then lovers will, as lovers do
entwine their love in one, as two.
Before the time of lush green grass
and plump ripe fruits must come to pass;
before the first soft crack of frost
and in the counting, not the cost,
then lovers will, as lovers must,
consign their caring into trust.
When in loves season lovers lie
full fruited ‘neath the Autumn sky
to wait the winters passing mood,
for birth of spring that winter wooed,
then lovers will, as lovers trust,
bring forth the gift that lovers must.

Some may recall this from an earlier version I withdrew from the forum. It remained eligable for this comp as the conditions were - not to have previuusly won a cash prize.

Wow! I'm sooo excited for you Mal.

Breath taking and a breath of fresh air. This poem wowed me when I first read it and it is still a favourite.

I'm so excited! Cheering, cheering very, very loudly!

Thanks to everyone.

The organisers want me to be on ABC regional radio in NSW in a couple of weeks to read the poem. Should have told them that if I was any great shakes as a performer I'd be in Tamworth performing.....

Ah Bob....it's Malcolm McLean Beveridge...what a gob full..hence Mal Mclean. Still dunno why I did that, really. :?

Good onya Mal, Mate never let a chance go by find someone local who can record you doing the poem before hand gets rid of the nerves or perhaps your local ABC might pre record it for you.

I'm sure you wil do a great job.

Cheers again mate.
