The Builders

Stephen Whiteside 06.12.2012

It's hard to build cities when you're in the sea,
And so we keep scampering, finloose and free,
We are as happy as chappies can be;
We are the dancing dolphins.

It's hard to build cities when you're in the sky;
We sit on the thermals, they lift us up high.
The key to our spirit? We know how to fly!
We are the soaring eagles.

It's hard to build cities when you're in the ground;
We dig a deep hole and create a large mound.
We're hairy and squarey, we're tubby and round.
We are the burrowing wombats.

It's hard to build cities, yet that's what we do.
From sunrise to sundown, we work the day through.
Why do we do it? I haven't a clue!
Poor muggins us.
