This is one of those type it/post it/delete it later cos you realise how silly it is type of poems, but it's been almost a year since I've written anything, so I'm kinda relieved the drought has broken at all!


Purple

My favrit pets are horses.
My favrit colour’s purple,
but now I’m in a pickle
cos nothing rhymes with urple!

A simple prob, don’t worry,
I’ll soon be feeling chirple.
I’ll just invent some new words
like wurple, yurple, zurple.

My best friend’s name is Heather,
(tho today I’ll call her Hurple).
She loves Mauve, Magenta, aMethyst,
but her favrit shade is Murple.

My favrit purple’s Cadbry.
That lustrous, rich, deep purple -
the kind wot wraps up choccies.
I gobble, chomp and schlurple.

Oh yerk, I must have et too much,
my stomach’s feeling slurple.
I think it’s coming up again …
oh no, it’s just a burple!

I warned my stoopid brother
(I think I’ll name him Thurple)
that if he eats my Cadbrys
he’ll get a purple nurple!

I’m sick from too much Cadbrys
and words that end in urple.
I’m stopping this dumb poem now
Cos nothing rhymes with purple!

Hey, just cos I made an irrational boo-boo, doesn't mean you should jump in boots and all too. But feel free to go ahead and do so ... we can be embarrassed together!

Thought you'd "get" it Stephen. Actually, you were my inspiration with your poem about poets running out of ideas. As I said, I've had a dry spell for almost a year, so I thought I should write a poem about something that can't be written about, hence, rhyming with purple. MAKE something work, in a weird twisted sort of way ...

I've got other ideas starting to gather on the horizon, just little scuddy clouds in the distance at the moment, but they will slowly rumble in and rain out ideas soon. I hope.

Oh well if everybody else is having a go I may as well post something as well.
