INCOMING
The shopping list has all been bought, and everything on it was sought
the pieces of the puzzle fit and Christmas! – well I’m over it.
There are no icy roads out here, instead a heatwave. Get more beer.
Turn off the sleigh bells and the tune, and ask Santa to leave the room.
I’ll grab that Red Door while I can – a little gift for my friend Anne
who is just full of Christmas cheer, while others are just full of beer.
The outtake to my purse is large and shoppers, thronging push and barge
for bargains on the Malls display I just wish I could fly away
and find quiet moments to myself instead of checking pantry shelf
where the worlds story is displayed from pineapple to mayonnaise.
In moonlit garden I might sit and ponder for a little bit
with beer in hand, cat at my feet, as RAAF Hornets fly city streets
wending their way back to their base where other planes are armed in case
the radar shows a UFO incoming – Is it Santa? No.
But hang about!!! Perhaps it is. Its flight path is erratic, this
is weird, its flying very low and landing on the roof tops so
don’t hit the button for code red – just have another beer instead.
We’ve all been counting down the days till the man comes in the big sleigh.
His wingman’s call sign – Reindeer Red and Santa’s known here as Red Ned.
The tower that overlooks this town hears Red and Reindeer - touching down.

Re: INCOMING
Ever heard of Bethlehem, it's supposed to have something to do with Christmas. ? It's a long way from Ipswich though
