Spare a thought for Santa Claus this Christmas.
He doesn’t get to eat a turkey roast.
He spends a frantic day
As he races in his sleigh,
Delivering his gifts from coast to coast.
Give a thought to Santa Claus this Christmas -
No roast potato, cauliflower or peas.
He must face a mound of work,
And he knows he cannot shirk.
In a twinkling he must cross the Seven Seas.
Pity poor old Santa Claus this Christmas -
No brandy butter, cream or Christmas pud;
No ice cream and no berries.
He must race the ships and ferries.
It must be really bad to be so good.
So isolated, Santa Claus this Christmas;
No family re-union booked for him.
He must spend the time alone
With a heart that’s turned to stone,
And I think the whole arrangement’s rather grim.
