PROUD

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Sat Dec 22, 2012 6:02 pm

Good to see the Government and our Defence Force acknowledge that this should not be a barrier or a taint to those who serve.

Every man and woman there is an Australian doing their duty. Every man and woman there is someone's son or daughter, relative, friend, lover. They are proud and they do us proud. What greater gift can man give than to lay down his life for a friend. Lest we forget.

Can't wait to see what they will march to

PROUD

We’re in the Army now, the Airforce and the Navy
we’ll fly in skies of blue and sail on oceans wavy.
We’ll fight where we must fight from Tarin Kowt to Zanzibar
and next year we are partaking in the Sydney Mardi Gras.

We’ll march down streets of Kings Cross in Uniforms pressed and neat,
and who knows who’ll come to see us or who will wave and greet.
Mates come from near and far and so do family and friends
not sure if we’ll be regimented, but we’ll set a trend.

A coming out parade is one in which we’ve all partaken
and now we really are so there can be no mistakin’,
the worlds a changing place as you can very plainly see
for the members of the armed forces now march in liberty.

So come down and join the throng - it’s a fun day to enjoy.
There are some sights a tad risqué, they’re cheeky girls and boys.
There’s nothing queer about them they are Aussies having fun
dressed up in drag and costume showing off some boob and bum.

We’re in the Army now, the Airforce and the Navy
we’ll fly in skies of blue and sail on oceans wavy.
You’ll see us marching proudly in the Sydney Mardi Gras
beneath our own loved Aussie Flag with Union Jack and Star

Goodonya Mausey,
You are such a deep thinker girl...and you always seem to find an uncommon 'angle' to a subject. Have a lovely.. doggie..? Christmas. xx

Thanks Glennie and hope you and croc enjoy your Theodore Christmas as well.

Just doing what poets do - writing about life as it is today warts and all sometimes. Is this an uncommon angle! Maybe some see it that way, to me it is just something that I felt was noteworthy and long overdue

Cheers

Maureen

Ta Maureen. I'm brain dead love. Only got 3 hrs sleep last night re getting croc to hospital for some oxygen. I was meaning 'unique' I think....in your special way of blending issues...of finding them in amongst the everyday....oh zzzzzz. I'll try again after I've had some sleeeep. xx
