Echidna

I saw three echidnas in my travels today - two in the bush, and one crossing the road.

This is the best I could do.

Echidna

Echidna
'E kiddin' 'er.
'E foolin' 'er.
Echidna.

'E razzin' 'er.
'E joshin' 'er.
'E spielen' 'er.
Echidna.

(From The Macquarie Thesaurus)

'E trickin' 'er (yes, why didn't I think of that myself?)
'E bluffin' 'er.
'E bullin' 'er.
'E cheatin' 'er.
'E 'dupin' 'er.
'E foxin' 'er.
'E gullin' 'er. (haven't heard that one before)
'E 'havin' 'er.
'E seelin' 'er. (or that one)
'E gammin' er. (should have thought of that one)
'E raggin' 'er. (and that one)

'E kiddin' 'er.

Echidna.

Nice photo.

Yes, it's rare to see them cooked down here - unless you go to McDonalds, of course.

Stephen, the aborigines at Bourke used to call them porcupines. A great delicacy for only privileged members of the tribe.

That's a wonderful photo Ross. :) Use that in your next book. ;) :)

in all the years I have been knocking around the bush, in various parts of Australia, that is the only Echidna I have ever seen free and in the wild.....I saw one in a basket on a gopher in front of the store at Areyonga a few years ago, he was destined for the fire, they are very inhumane about how they cook them too, throw it in the fire alive, and just keep pushing it back in with a stick until until it dies!....and we have people in Australia who cause a big stink over how cattle and sheep are killed over seas!
Doubt there will be another book Neville, Stephen can use it in his book seeing he already has a poem about Echidnas... :D
