Was so disgusted with the recent massacre & the yanks attitude towards gun ownership I felt compelled to put something down in writing.



No Longer Will They.......


No longer will they walk the hallowed halls of Columbine,
instead they are now honoured by a small remembrance shrine.
So many teenage lives were taken on that fateful day,
when will you stop the killing, ban the guns and show the way.

No longer will they walk the grassy grounds of Redlake High,
their tragic end still haunts us as the years keep passing by.
So many young lives lost there on that awful spring school day,
when will you stop the killing, ban the guns and show the way.

No longer will they laugh out loud in rooms at Sandy Hook,
mere babes were taken from us, now they’ll never read a book.
So many children died, were murdered on that shocking day,
when will you stop the killing, ban the guns and show the way.

The NRA still stands by an amendment that’s so old,
to stop the daily killings they won’t listen or be told.
They’ve bought the politicians and they’ve bought the senate seats,
but will they buy the public with their lies and their deceit.

So many young lives gone all for the need to own a gun,
so many parents, now without a Daughter or a Son.
Free all your frightened children of the guns throughout the land,
When will you stop the killing, when will you speak and make a stand?

I hope this is a wake up call for all Americans,
remove that old amendment, you’re not fighting Indians.
And work at gun control so that the killing may just cease
then, finally you might just have the time to live in peace.

Dave, I can never remember any event emotionally impacting on me as much as this one....(I love little kids!) You would think if anything would make them see reason it would be this wouldn't you? Sadly I doubt it with many of them.

Well put, Dave . . how many more of these sensless massacres need to be seen before some attempt is made to rectify the "but it's our god given right" mentality?

The reply from the gun lobby ? If the teachers had been allowed to have guns in the classroom and were trained to use them they could have taken him out before anyone was hurt ????

Teachers can't administer corporal punishment, but capital punishment is OK?
That makes sense ...

You say removal of guns is the only way.
With guns gone what protection does your wife, daughters and young sons have if you are disabled and cannot protect them.
There is no answer except an instance death penalty for the perpetrators.
It may sound cruel and harsh but so are they
I know you will hate what I have said, but please take of the blinkers and face the reality of a harsh cruel world that is here today

it is only a harsh cruel world because of harsh cruel people Bill , but I do agree in these cases the death penalty should be mandatory. The problem is most of them seem to top themselves as well.

Thank you everyone for your replies, Bill mate, don't hate you for your point of view, my problem is why the yanks have the need for assault rifles & high powered weapons, they stand by an amendment that is hundreds of years old & this has been "inbread" in them, we in Oz have been taught there is no need for a firearm unless you are on a property, a cop or in the military & we, to a great extent have adopted this way of life, take the guns off the street & from Mr. Average who lives in the suburbs & it reduces the choices for the crims, I, for the life of me can't see the need for a suburban "Joe" to have the need for assault rifles or other high powered weapons, I hope for the love of my grandkids we don't go down the same path as our yank friends. BTW I did grow up around rifles & pistols...(-:

Australians lived with firearms for donkeys years and it was a way of life and we were made to respect that when we were kids.
Now there is no need for ex military fire arms to be available to the public either here or overseas but all governments need the money to buy new modern weapons far better than the old 303 so they are greedy and sold some to the public.
But, at least here in Australia we were not a loud AUTO fire firearms except 22 and shot guns the military stuff went overseas to kill or maim those poor buggers and the government copped a tidy quid.
The yanks have more people so the market is bigger and greed comes into the equation cause they cannot sell that number of fire arms overseas. So why not take a governmental lose and trash those arms reason why? Because of the greed for some people.

The truth is that most of their politicians like our ones here are unlikely to do anything that may cost them their seats no matter how may people; children or otherwise get killed.

Sad isn't it.
