Monopoly Change

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:02 am

Monopoly Change

Sad to lose the metal iron.
Sign of old ways slowly dyin'.
Have to live with metal cat.
Guess there's things much worse than that.

Scotty dog and shoe survive.
Wheelbarrow is still alive.
Iron only lost the vote.
Gave it thumbs down. Slit its throat.

Cats in England are all right.
Ruthless hunters of the night
Wreak a dreadful toll in Oz
Upon the natives, all because

They've not evolved to co-exist
And have no methods to resist.
Of course, a metal cat is not
A real cat, and yet the rot

Is setting in. As these things go,
One leads on to the next, you know,
And so I'd like to re-arrange
This subtle but destructive change

And have a local version where
There is no cat to hunt and scare
Our native critters; cease the toll
Of species lost - instead, a quoll.

I read an article about the change of Monopoly tokens Stephen, but it seemed very US-centric. My board is based on London, not Atlantic City, so I wasn't even sure if the change will be world-wide or just in the US.
Go the boot!

Hmm... I saw Mayfair mentioned, but others that I did not recognise. A hybrid, perhaps?

I forgot about the boot. Was there a hat, too? I seem to remember that.

Boats, Maureen? More than happy to talk about boats!

Yes I was rather sad when I heard the iron got the chop after being "voted off". I always chose the iron as a kid.

R.I.P ye olde faithful iron  never to pass go again.

Love the idea of a quoll though, Doc ;)

Thanks, Ross. Well, I guess bush verse is not all drovers and shearers - though I guess they play Monopoly, too!

Well Stephen,

If I can't be the iron, I'll just steal quietly away. I don't (well not when my children were small) have Monopoly in my house. It causes too many fights. Scrabble on the other hand... we had both the junior and regular version.
