A BU(LL)SH POEM
How I love to be
A bush poet of this country
Where kangaroos are bounding
And kookaburras they are sounding
The gum trees stand tall
So beautiful where coo-ees call
I'll tell you of the blue mountains
And how the rivers run like fountains
This is the land of mates
They will always help you open gates
They'll stop to have a yarn
Even when they have work in the barn
And sit down to share a couple of beers
If you don't mind how they bash your ears
I think I will win an award
If the rhyming I work toward
And tell of Australia in Aussie bush verse
Those other places are really much worse
So let us raise our cup o' Billy Tea
To Aussie poets' capability.
