Quite a few years ago when I was still working, a friend of mine, a religious education teacher who had read a couple of my poems, asked me if I could write one with a reference to Jesus that he could use in his class. I’m not a religious person and it threw me for a while because I didn’t know how to approach it. Finally came up with this. I thought it was a bit doom and gloom but he seemed to like it.
Let Jesus Into Your Heart
In a world where our brothers and sisters
Are in danger of losing their way
Where neighbours are more often strangers
And true friends are fewer each day
Where promises made have no substance
And fear and mistrust pave our path
There’s an answer for all those who seek it
Let Jesus into your heart.
If your mornings are all coloured stoney and bleak
And you’d sooner forget yesterday
And each memory you hold is just one more regret
And your thoughts are a deep shade of grey
When you can’t find a meaning, a focus, a goal
A reason to make a new start
There’s an answer for all those who seek it
Let Jesus into your heart
When you no longer sense there’s a future
That tomorrow’s just more of the same
When hope is a word that you no longer use
And your pathway is cobbled with pain
When you can’t find a shoulder to lean on
When you’re standing alone and apart
There’s an answer. It’s there if you seek it.
Let Jesus into your heart

That is just lovely Wazza - very simple message and heartfelt - what a wonderful motivational poster this would make.
