State Of Origin One 2013
Can you hear the distant rumble slowly building to a roar
Can you see the lightening flashing like Thor the God of war.
Is there a cyclone building in Australia’s greatest state
No the Origin is coming pitting mate up against mate.
The teams have been selected the Blues have picked their cream
Seven years they’ve sought the victory their one and only dream.
But in their way the might of Queensland the cane toad army standing tall
Prepared to sacrifice their bodies fight with backs against the wall.
The blues ring in the changes but then they do that every year
Ferguson and James Maloney will tremble with the fear.
The cane-toad armies primed and ready, Maroon hearts begin to swell
On the blues home turf in Sydney they prepare to give them hell.
The Blues will keep on spruiking think they might come out on top
but it will take a bloody miracle this Queensland juggernaut to stop.
They just can’t understand the passion or the pride with which we play
Or how players find that little extra when it’s needed on the day.
There can be no easy victories no casual stroll around the park
to lose will bring their greatest fear, Queensland at Lang Park.
The battle lines are set in stone the division cut and clean
You’re either cane toad or cockroach, there can be no in-between.
Fanatical you bet we are it’s like an unrelenting flood
From Cooktown to the Gold Coast they are screaming out for blood.
So do your best you roaches but all your hopes will surely die
The last thing you will hear will be our haunting victory cry.
