Origin Game One

Post by Bob Pacey » Thu Jun 06, 2013 5:51 am

Origin one

When they played the national anthem the blues had a look of fear.
But when Hayne crossed in the corner, it was me who shed a tear.
Now I’ll have to go to work today to face those cocky blues
oh I wish the win had been reversed and I was in their shoes.

I had this awful feeling that the blues were on their game.
Cronk and Smith looked so bewildered ,where was that Queensland flame ?
No attacking options. kicks that went straight down the park
The blue machine was running rampant the sky was slowly turning dark.

We were going through the motions while the Blues were on a high.
Then came my greatest nightmare, Jennings barged in for that try.
There was nothing going our way every close call turned to dust.
While the roaches charged our kicks down and with every run they made a bust.

But there was just the slightest glimmer I could see it in our players eyes.
I was so sure the boys could come back and feel that Queensland spirit rise.
Oh how did Gallen get to stay on ? That had to be ten in the bin.
Nate Miles an innocent bystander as he took two on the chin.

The second half mate it was torrid, no quarter given and none asked.
Queensland started to make inroads as they settled to the task.
We had our chances oh I know it, as the game ebbed too and fro.
Smith reached out for the try, in disbelief I screamed out Noooo.

Then with one brilliant passing movement they left Blues lying in their wake.
Thurston to Inglis running rampant and a flying Boyd then iced the cake.
But there was no more, it was over I sat there staring at the screen.
I could only sit alone and ponder just what might have been.

The Blues were celebrating you could hear their fans all roar.
but I just don’t think they realise one battle does not win the war.
Oh sure they will be cocky think the world is at their feet.
But if they think Queensland is finished then our victory will be sweet.

Their old heads know what’s coming so let them drink their victory beer.
When they come to Queenslands cauldron their hearts will fill with fear.
The site of many Queensland victories where our favourite sons will fly.
So when we equal up the series then you will hear our victory cry.

Queenlander.
The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

As a humble, dumb Victorian, I don't really care.
They sold my team, the Melbourne Storm, and I think that's unfair.
So when those Toads and Roaches started sniffing those behinds
I reached for my remote and changed the Box to Criminal Minds.

Aah Bob... I needed a valium last night and all I had in the cupboard was rum. Got to admit the blues ran all over Q in the first half to set up the win. What I can not understand is how Gallen got to stay on the paddock. Myles had his hands at his sides completely oblivious to what was to follow. I don't mind the odd scrap but that was in the order of a king hit. A mongrel act. I reckon Gallen will need body armour next game. Good poem mate. Next one's in the heartland.

Tearfully,
Wazza

Yes always a next time Neville but I'm not confident. This was the best team the blues have fielded for a long time. Plenty of size and even their big men have pace. Can't win 'em all.
Cheers ... Wazza
